Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do I need a visa to get in to Argentina?
A:
Probably not, but you must contact the Argentine Embassy or Consulate before travel. Your passport must be up to date, of course.

Q: Do we need any kind of preventive vaccinations?
A:
Not for Argentina. However, always check with the Argentine Embassy or Consulate.

Q: Is the water drinkable at la Lucena?
A:
Yes, it certainly is! No one has ever had a problem.

Q: What will my mailing address be?
A:
You will be able to receive letters and small packages addressed to you at: (5117) La Pampa, Dto. Totoral - Pcia. de Córdoba - Argentina

Q: What will my lodgings be?
A:
Interns will be provided with free private housing within a five minute walk of the center. They will be equipped with their own kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and will have access to laundry facilities.

Q: Will I have access to a phone, email or internet?
A:
Yes, although the intern housing does not have its own phone, you will have access to one, as well as to email and internet.

Q: What about food and shopping? Any chances for a vegetarian to survive in Argentina?
A:
All meals during the school work week (Monday-Friday) will be provided, but interns are expected to purchase and prepare their own food on weekends and non-work weeks. Although meals at La Lucena include meat, the kitchen staff can provide vegetarian food upon request, that you may want to spice up on your own. All kinds of fruits, vegetables, grains, and beans can be found in Argentina.

Q: Should I bring cash, credit cards or Travelers Checks?
A:
Traveler checks are NOT practical. US currency is widely accepted and so are major credit cards.

Q: How do I get to La Lucena E.L.C. from abroad?
A:
Your final air destination will be Córdoba International Airport. We will get you to La Lucena from there. There are incoming flights into Córdoba through Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires.
